Could you tell us about the formation of the group?

The formation of the band/group: it was somewhere around 2009 that Joris (drums) and Toon (Guitar), two of my former students, and Bart (bass guitar) and myself formed a band for our high school graduation party. So Bart and I (Roel) were teachers of Toon and Joris. Because we liked very much what we were doing, we decided to continue the band after school

You have chosen to call ROZA PARKS!
Can you explain this name?

At first the name of the band was "Rosa Parks' Private Bus Seat'. I had chosen this name because it was a great image: we imagined the strong Rosa Parks in her famous bus incident, where she refused to give up her seat in the bus. That seat was her private bus seat... The bandname changed to Roza Parks somewhere in 2012 because of problems with the length of the name, and the non-commercial fact....

How does the composition of labor within the group?

Composition of labour: most of the time Roel makes the basic of the songs, sometimes they're nearly finished, other times he works on the songs with either Joris (drums) or Toon (guitar) to finetune them before we practice them. At the final rehearsals everybody tries out what arrangements they really think that works best for their instrument. Roel also writes all the lyrics.

What is the craziest thing that you see during a show in the public?

The crazies thing that we've ever seen during a concert was the moment Roel fell from stage behind the legs of a blind man. The blind man didn't notice him falling behind his legs, but is was a strange sight...

If you had the choce between three concerts:
-A concert for penguins on the ice
-A concert at the Stade de France and empty in the rain
-A concert for the club domino Loudeac dadyday with vocals

Which do you choose?

Well, I would go for a duet with the dadyday singer. He's crazy as hell. Although it would be more great if we were at the same moment on an iceberg in the middle of the Stade de France, surrounded by penguins.

What is your dream in music?

Our dream in music is making great records, and that's about it. We're not at all in the music for the money...
