Your blaze (name graffiti)?

So, we are PAXART! A group formed by Marcelo Pax and Jotapê Pax. Pax is the name of our crew, than have more people involved. This projetc (paxart) is to develop professional designs and autoral artwork to customers around the world.

Your first graffiti (what year? Where? With that?)

Our first Graffiti was in 1999, in Porto Alegre. A city in south of Brasil. With my friends on the wall beside the school.

Why the graffiti as a form of expression?

For us, graffiti is like a scream. We can talk with the citzens Just painting and Interact with the city, drawing and give to the place a new face.

Where do you like most maked graffiti?

The abandoned places are a good spot to do graffiti. But we can do indoor paintings, a big murals, furnitures and anywhere else that needs a color.

You're pretty focused on the letter? The characters? The color? The graphics? Forms?

We like to do characters, but we've done a lot of letters, bombs, tags. The colors are a beautiful part of what we do, but we will never lose the essence of appropriating and paint in dark places at night in “unprotected places”. 

How would you define your style?

Maybe, it’s is a Brasilian style. Caracters using de references of folclore, colorfull and shocking.

How do you perceive your career in local graffiti culture?

Today, we are a reference in the city where we live. We have a workspace where join several local and visiting artists. We produce festivals and gatherings that aims the exchange and collective organization. We are aggregators of people and we know how to do it very well.

An important meeting that motivated your work?

Porto Alegre twice hosted the World Social Forum. It was a big step for our culture, especially the graffiti, because we receive many artists from various parts of the world. I think for this reason we began to realize that we can do more and can move people and show the world our work.

What is the role of graffiti in your life?

We live our art today. The graffiti, we see only as a piece of all this we have developed today. The graffiti you do on the street, without permission, no rules. Our role today is to generate a large flow of work to have time and material to paint graffiti on the street. We are working every day to be able to paint over the weekend with friends, no customers, no briefings. This is what gives us strength to continue designing and creating, always!

Your sources of inspiration?

Family, friends and a beautiful sunny day. We do not need much to keep us inspired.

Family, for having encouraged to continue. Núcleo Urbanóide, the place that houses artists and friends in Porto Alegre. To our friends who support our follies and all that accompanying our work on the streets and on the internet!
