When and where did you arrive ON earth?
Hello,
My name is Paula Novotná, I come from Czech Republic and I am 18 years old. So I was born in the middle of Europe and it was the end of the year 1992. My parents got me as a beautiful christmas present. Actually i wanted to be born on the coast by the sea, but I think something went wrong.
When did you started kite surfing?
I started kitesurfing 5 years ago. My parents teached me and then they also teached my little brother. It was in Greece when i stood for the first time on kiteboard and where I did my first jumps.
Where do you live and is it a good place to make kitesurf?
As I said I live in Czech Republic, where aren´t that many places to do kitesurfing. We have some lakes, but the wind doesn´t come that often. I usually travel somewhere, and this spring i am finishing my highschool so I might be moving somewhere soon ;)
What happens to your kiting career?
I started competing one year ago, so this was my first year of competing. I ended up 4th overall in Kite Surf Tour Europe – freestyle. Next year i will do some stops of KTE and also PKRA.
What is your biggest Wipe Out?
One year ago i wanted to start my career with snowboarding, and right after i started i fell badly. I broke my knee ligament and since then i have been kiting with brace. This autumn i did a plastic surgery of ACL and i now i am recovering. I´ll be back on the water in spring ;)
What is your best souvenir when travelling ?
I like to go away with lot´s of new tricks and with vision of coming back soon ;)
One morning, you wake up ,You arrive in your kitchen and suddenly, you see a genius in wetsuit! He say:” Hey Miss, I can offer you 2 magic gifts! What do you want?
It would be a warm sunny and windy day and lot´s of kitesurfing friends around ;) These days are the best and i am always happy that I can live this awesome life.
Do you often ride skateboards?
I sometimes like longboarding. It´s a lot of fun!
Island Slalom Tour is a series of skateboarding contests on tiny french islands where nobody has ever skated! We are as Captain cook at Hawaii in 1600! Except we have now motor boats and concrete roads... What do you think about this?
We have a rider from your country who came at island slalom tour with this car! You can come with him!
This is relly great idea! I think most of the people who will come will like it, and i hope the tour will be one big success!
Do you know brittany and the goods spots ?
I know Brittany is a beautiful part of France!
How would you define a good session ?
As i said, perfect sunny windy day, somewhere on a beautiful beach with my best friends. That´s always an awesomeness.
What other sports do you partake in?
I did snowboarding before I started with kitesurfing. I also did gymnastics and athletics. When i don´t kite I like to keep fit going running, swimming and going to the gym. I love wakeboarding and surfing. But kitesurfing is just the best.
Do you know paté henaff?
It´s a product from France. It´s from the Brittany. It´s something to eat, but I have never tried it before. I don´t eat that much meat though.
Do you have sponsors?
Yes, i have some sponzors. The kite sponzor is North kiteboarding and shop Snowboardel. Then i have 69 slam sponzor for clothing.
What is your device?
I like North Vegas, the best is the 7 m. The board I use the North teamseries.
If you were stranded on a desert island in iroise sea that already has a plentiful resource of kitesurf and sails what three things would you bring?
My kite equipment, my family and my best friends for sure.
What is the best spot in the Czech Republic?!
The best spot in Czech Republic is my home spot Rozkoš. When the south wind comes its super flat and it´s just perfect!
I you have a choice between:
-One kite trip of 7 months in luxembourg
-One Trip of 4 Months with Gerard Jaffres who sing 24/24
What is you choice?
I think both of those choices are really good. ;)
A last word?
I hope you enjoyed my interview and i wish you a lot of windy sunny and hot days ! ;)
Cheers,
Paula Novotná
