When and where did you arrive ON earth?

Made in Holland..! 1979

When did you started kite surfing?

Got hooked first time someone strapped me to a kite in 2005. 3 weeks later I was on my first kitetrip to Brasil.

Where do you live and is it a good place to make kitesurf?

I live in Amsterdam, for every wind direction there is a spot within 45 min drive or closer. Flat water and waves. When I want to escape the crowds I visit my friend Esther Oud (kitepro) on Ameland, have all that without the people. So Except for the bad temperatures, Holland is kitesurf-paradise.

 

What happens to your kiting career?

For me its not a career, it’s a lifestyle. I love to travel, and I love that special people practice this sport.

 

What is your biggest Wipe Out?

Above mentioned First Kitetrip to Brasil, was trying to do a downwinder in the waves. No skills, could hardly keep the board on my feet. The downwindpart was a given. ☺
After a stop I had to go through a massive shorebreak. The board glued to the sand as I steered the kite for take-off. I got catapulted, made hudge air and crashed the beach, smashing my shoulder and injuring my ankle.

 

What is your best anecdote when travelling ?

I don’t need one. Someone asks where you from? I am from Amsterdam. They start the anecdotes haha.

One morning, you wake up ,You arrive in your kitchen and suddenly,you see a genius in wetsuit! He say:” Hey Miss, I can offer you 2 magic gifts! What do you want?

I would like to split my job with someone so I can work 6 months here in Holland and spend 6 wintermonths a year somewhere sunny. The other person would have the same benefit.
And… worldpeace ☺


 

Do you often ride skateboards?

Nope, think closest thing is a mountainboard.

Island Slalom Tour is a series of skateboarding contests on tiny french islands where nobody has ever skated! We are as Captain cook at Hawaii in 1600! Except we have now motor boats and concrete roads... What do you think about this?

Do you know brittany and the goods spots ?

Yes I do, my parents would take us there. I just met Deimantina (kitepro) on Maui, she lives in Brittany now. I hope to visit her sometime this year, and see some of those good spots.

What do you prefer in kitesurf and why?

Its the package, awesome workout, every session is different, great community, lots of travel. You can go anywhere in the world, by yourself, and bump into people you know, or make new friends easy through kitesurfing.
It works your body, opens your mind, and broadens your horizon.

How would you define a good session ?

Riding a little overpowered, so you can just handle, getting jerked around a little is a freakin rush! Doin the few tricks I can, aggressively, and just fly.. I love to mix that up with some waves. Being stoked is twice as fun when you can share it, so some good company to top the day.

What other sports do you partake in?

I love roadbiking, killing me softly, horseriding, yoga, snowboarding, wakeboarding, started learning how to surf in Bali this year. Will pick that up.

If you were stranded on a desert island in iroise sea that already has a plentiful resource of kitesurf and sails what three things would you bring?

Special Someone to keep me warm. My Bose-headset for music and my toothbrush.

If you have a choice between:
-One kite trip of 7 months in luxembourg
-One Trip of 4 Months in Loudeac to play Domino

What is you choice?

I would say Loudeac is closer to the water. But I would definitely ask for secret option numbre 3 and tag along with you guys on the Island Slalom Tour.
